Tickets available for Nov. 5 Fundraiser for Student Success

Proceeds will support Ivy Tech’s Miami County students

2016-10-blue-jean-ball-logo_ivy-techPERU, Ind. — Reservations are now being accepted for the biennial Fundraiser for Student Success sponsored by Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region’s Peru Instructional Site and set for Saturday, Nov. 5, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The event will be at the Milestone Event Center on the Grissom Joint Air Reserve Base.

The 2016 “Blue Jean Ball,” with blue jeans and “bling” the appropriate attire, will feature live entertainment by Miami County’s own Swampwater Stompers, dinner, and an evening of competitive bidding. Live and silent auctions with an array of unique items and experiences will raise funds for scholarships and other support for student success in Miami County.

Proceeds from the event will support Miami County students attending Ivy Tech Community College. In 2014, the scholarship fundraiser raised more than $25,000; this year’s goal is $30,000. In the live scholarship auction, bidders can earmark their donations to the Culinary Arts Scholarship, the Miami County Nursing Scholarship, or the Miami County Community Spirit Scholarship.

“Because of the continued support of the Miami County community, we are able to offer more scholarships to support students pursuing their college education at Ivy Tech Kokomo Region,” said David Scheblo, executive director of the Peru Instructional Site.

Tickets are $30 each and include dinner, music, and a chance to bid on a number of live and silent auctions items. A cash bar also will be available. Seating is limited but tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.ivytech.edu/kokomo/peru.html. For more information, call 765-252-5500.
