Ivy Tech to offer Beginner Microsoft Excel 2013 at Rochester site

Eight-hour class is for beginners

ROCHESTER, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College is offering an eight-hour class for anyone with little or no experience with Microsoft’s Excel spreadsheet program who wants to learn its basics. The class will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays in October, at Ivy Tech’s instructional site in Rochester. Mary Kay, the executive director of the Compassionate Health Center in Rochester and an expert in Microsoft Excel, will be the instructor.

The class will include:

  • Exploring the program window
    • Names and functions of each object
    • In-depth look at each section of the ribbon
  • Entering data into spreadsheets
    • Formatting numbers
    • Format painter
  • Editing worksheets
    • Cut, copy, paste, undo
    • Writing simple formulas
    • Pivot tables
    • Sorting and filtering
  • Printing worksheets
  • Saving your worksheets
