Ivy Tech Corporate College sets ‘The Small Business Series’

Local business owners can gain skills to go to the next level

KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Corporate College is offering a series of classes this fall designed to help small business owners take their operations to the next level. Each of the three non-credit courses will include four sessions and will be taught by local business owners and experts in their field.

“This will be an opportunity to participate in an affordable learning series that is an investment in yourself and your business,” said Stephanie Reitan, program manager for Ivy Tech Corporate College’s Kokomo Region. “You’ll be able to learn how QuickBooks can improve your accounting, what social networking can do to help grow your business, and how to plan and measure your financial success.

The three courses in “The Small Business Series,” and their instructors, include:

Lisa Girton QuickBooks Course

Lisa Girton

  • Introduction to QuickBooks 2015, which will be offered Tuesdays in September, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Lisa Girton, a QuickBooks Pro-Advisor who is certified in QuickBooks for desktop and online. Girton is owner of The Productive Assistant, which offers administrative support in marketing and communications, accounting and secretarial services for other small business owners. Cost of this class is $249.

 

  • Drew Larison             Social Networking

    Drew Larison

    Business Social Networking, which will be offered Wednesdays in October from 5 to 7 p.m., with Drew Larison, owner of The Larison Company, a “consulting collective that specializes in teaching small- to medium-sized businesses fresh and innovative ways to grow.” Larison draws on years of experience in social media marketing that included internships at H.E. McGonigal and Button Dodge and positions with SUCCESS Agency. Cost of this class is $125.

 

  • Aimee Romero

    Aimee Romero

    Small Business Finance, which will be offered Wednesdays in November from 5 to 8 p.m., with Aimee Romero, currently the senior mortgage banker for LeaderOne Financial in downtown Kokomo. Romero has more than 14 years of experience in the mortgage/lending industry with expertise in bank operations, and underwriting, processing and originating all types of loans. Cost of this class is $169.
