Prospective students, parents invited to ‘Explore Ivy’

Campus visit days set at Kokomo and Logansport campuses

KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College’s Kokomo and Logansport campuses will open their doors this month to give prospective students and interested area residents a chance to see the many opportunities they offer for personal and career advancement.

“The ‘Explore Ivy’ campus visit days can be your first step in making the transition to college,” said Marcia Worland, executive director of Marketing & Admissions for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region. “Prospective students – whether you’re interested in starting in January or are exploring your options for after high school graduation next spring – will be able to explore our facilities and programs during an interactive, on-campus experience.”

In Kokomo, three sessions, focused on different academic programs, are scheduled. All three will run from 9 a.m. to noon, with tours starting at 9, 10 and 11 a.m., on the following dates and locations:

  • Monday, Sept. 21: Health Sciences Division, 700 E. Firmin St.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 22: Technology Division, 1912 Trialon Court
  • Wednesday, Sept. 23: Business, Public Services, University and Transfer divisions, 1815 E. Morgan St.

In Logansport, one “Explore Ivy” session covering all academic divisions is planned from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 24, at the campus at 1 Ivy Tech Way. Again, tours will start at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.

The events will include facility tours; an opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students; and a look at the programs and courses offered at each site. Visitors will be able to learn about free services offered to support student success as well as transfer options with Ivy Tech’s four-year partners.

“We’re excited that this is part of Indiana’s ‘College GO! Week’ when high school students around the state have the opportunity to take time out of their class day to make college visits,” Worland added. “For high school seniors, the time is right to start gathering the information you need to make timely college decisions.” Parents are welcome to attend and advisers also will be on hand to provide assistance for filing for financial aid.

Those interested in attending are asked to register for their preferred campus location and area of study by going to ivytech.edu/kokomo and clicking on “Events” in the dropdown menu.

Personal campus tours also may be scheduled at that website or by contacting Sarah King, director of Admissions/Recruitment, at 765-459-0561, ext. 7252, or by email at sking16@ivytech.edu; or Diana Kerrigan, assistant director of Admissions/Recruitment, at 574-753-5101, ext. 2174, or dkerrigan1@ivytech.edu .
