“We are recruiting existing and emerging leaders for our 2016 class, which will begin Jan. 7,” said Sharon Reed-Corbett, Leadership Kokomo director. “Our mission is to bring together a diverse group of community-minded leaders who work within Howard County and empower them to become resourceful stewards of the community.”

Reed-Corbett said the luncheon invitation is also extended to representatives of businesses, companies and organizations in Howard County interested in expanding community connections through their employees’ involvement in local activities. Details of the LK program will be shared at the event.

“As Leadership Kokomo recruits members of what will be its 34th class, we can celebrate the tremendous impact its alumni have made in the professional and civic life of Kokomo and Howard County,” said Michelle Simmons, president of the Kokomo Campus of Ivy Tech Community College, lead sponsor of the program.

“Ivy Tech is proud to be part of the ongoing partnership with the Kokomo/Howard County Chamber of Commerce and the City of Kokomo that makes LK possible,” she continued, “and I encourage those interested in the future of their community to consider participating in this program.”

In addition to leadership training, participants in Leadership Kokomo will share networking opportunities, increased community awareness, volunteer opportunities and personal and professional development. Local issues and programs will be introduced through panel discussions, individual speakers, on-site visits, group discussions and simulations.

The LK Steering Committee will review applications and select 30 participants for the 2016 class. The application deadline is Dec. 1 and participants will be notified of acceptance by Dec. 18.
