Ivy Tech and IU Kokomo Job Fair will feature dozens of employers

Free fair open to students, alumni and community members

KOKOMO, Ind. —Dozens of north central Indiana employers are planning to participate in the spring Kokomo Area Job Fair set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Kokomo Event & Conference Center. Indiana University Kokomo and Ivy Tech Community College are sponsoring the fair, which is open to students, alumni and community members seeking part-time, full-time or internship positions.

The fair is open without charge and provides participants the opportunity to meet with employers and discuss potential job opportunities. A professional photographer will also be on site to take a free professional picture for participants’ social media sites, such as Linked-In.

“Anyone interested in a full-time, part-time, internship, or even volunteer opportunity is provided a greater advantage by networking with prospective employers while attending this job fair,” said Tracy Springer, manager of IUK’s Career and Accessibility Center.

“While we have had attendees get job offers at the job fair, job fairs aren’t necessarily about finding a job that day,” she continued. “The day is about building relationships and getting your name out there for a job that may open up tomorrow.”

Springer noted participants should be sure to dress in professional business attire. “Bring your résumé in case an employer asks for one,” she encouraged, “and be prepared to talk with every employer!”
