Ivy Tech taking reservations for sponsors, exhibitors for first outdoor expo
KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region is planning its first “Wild Indiana Outdoors” expo for Jan. 17-18, 2015. The planning committee is now seeking sponsors and accepting exhibitor reservations for the two-day event that is designed to highlight Hoosier outdoor opportunities ranging from hunting to biking to tourism.
“We want this to be a true community event, offering something for almost every outdoor interest,” said John Martino, director of Facilities for Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Region and a member of the planning committee. “Along with many hunting, fishing and camping vendors, we want to include exhibitors with products and services for boating, bicycling, canoeing and kayaking, organic gardening, campfire cooking, skydiving and more. Other possibilities could be people who offer custom-made knives, build dog boxes, fabricate fishing rods and artificial lures … anything related to the outdoors.”
Martino said the committee is working to secure nationally known guest speakers for workshops and seminars during the event. “Our goal is to attract the wide audience currently involved in outdoor activities … and to offer exhibits and interactive presentations that can spark the imaginations of people who may have an interest but don’t know the many options that exist,” he said. “With activities planned for the youngsters, there will be something for everyone in the family.”
All proceeds from the event will go to the Ivy Tech Foundation to support scholarships for Ivy Tech Kokomo Region students. Various levels of sponsorship are available, with a portion of each qualifying as charitable contributions. These range from two “platinum level” sponsorships at $2,500 each (charitable contribution of $2,190) to five “session sponsor” sponsorships at $100 each (charitable contribution of $90).
