Registration open for Ivy Tech summer gardening camp for kids

KOKOMO, Ind. – Area youngsters in grades 4, 5 and 6 can be “garden detectives” this summer with a gardening camp offered July 28 to Aug. 1 by Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region.

Enrollment in the Garden Detective Camp is limited to 15 youngsters; a few spots remain.

The camp will meet each day from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kokomo Community Garden at North Street and Touby Pike on Ivy Tech’s Kokomo Campus. Campers will learn how their food grows and how to tend a garden. The week culminates with a trip to a working organic farm with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables and chickens laying brown eggs.
