KOKOMO, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College is again offering Express Enrollment at its Kokomo campus to make it easier for prospective students with busy schedules to get through the enrollment process. Students can complete everything from admission application through registration for spring semester classes in just one stop during the free session being offered on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the main campus, 1815 E. Morgan St. in Kokomo.
Students may participate in the Kokomo Express Enrollment event, as long as they arrive between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and may enroll in classes at any Ivy Tech Kokomo Region location.
Marcia Worland, interim admissions director for Ivy Tech Kokomo Region, said advisors will be on hand to help students through the process – from completing the admission application and the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if you haven’t already done so, to completing new student orientation, to taking the academic placement assessment and selecting the right classes for spring semester. She noted parents are encouraged to attend with their college-bound student.
Express Enrollment is also an efficient way for students who want to move to Ivy Tech from another college or university. “Occasionally, students who have moved away to attend school in a residential setting may decide they want to return home at the end of the fall term,” Worland said. “Express Enrollment offers a great opportunity to make that transfer for spring semester quick and easy.”
The academic placement assessment is designed to evaluate an applicant’s reading, writing and math skills so he or she can be placed in appropriate classes. The assessment requirement may be met by providing the admissions representative with a copy of a transcript showing previous college credit; documentation of SAT scores of 460+, ACT scores of 17+ or PSAT scores of 46+ in each section of the test; or a high school transcript showing graduation with a Core 40, Technical Honors or Academic Honors diploma or equivalent and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. All others will be able to take the Accuplacer skills assessment during an Express Enrollment event. More information on the assessment process can be found at www.ivytech.edu/assessment.
